Wild West Texas Weather
A collaboration between the Department of Geosciences and 88.1 KTXT The Raider at Texas Tech University
This website accompanies the radio program "Wild West Texas Weather" developed as part of a project funded by the National Science Foundation, focused on the origin of rotation in tornadoes. The radio program consists of roughly 2 minute "vignettes" introducing interesting weather phenomena encountered in West Texas. The program is spear-headed by Johannes Dahl of the Storm Dynamics Group (Atmospheric Science Group/Department of Geosciences at TTU) and Derrick Ginter of the college radio station, KTXT 88.1 the Raider.
On the topics page, you may select the different weather phenomena, learn more about them, and listen to the radio broadcasts.
Many thanks to our script authors/readers from the Atmospheric Science Group:
Samantha Berkseth, Vanna Chmielewski, Mark Eslick, Tyler Hudson, Abby Hutson, Russel Manser
Aaron Mehner, Cameron Nixon, and Shelby Robertson.
